Teen look-a-likes hit Provo

THE stars were out in force at Graceway Sports Centre last weekend.

Tiger Woods, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift were among guests at the Provo Teen Dance and Skate Night.
But autograph hunters fear not.

The glamorous trio were entries in the spectacular celebrity look-a-like competition, which attracted a host of superstar doubles.

Provo Teen Nights are held every month with more than 100 grade six and upward students from across the island joining in the fun.

Profits from these popular events go towards educational projects, with this month’s beneficiaries being Provo Primary School and the Edward C Gartland Youth Centre.

Co-organiser Cristal Clark explained: “The Teen Nights were set up to give youngsters both something fun to do and a place to meet up and make new friends. They also help raise money for scholarship schemes and other educational projects.

“Teenagers can skate, dance or just hang out, and we have lots of other attractions such raffles and pizza.”

She added: “The nights are themed with the latest being a celebrity look-a-like night, sponsored by Digicel, where youngsters came dressed as a star and there were prizes for the best, voted for by the teenagers themselves.”

Claiming top honours in the competition were Cierra Edross and Coral Pratt, who came dressed as Lola from Hannah Montana and Kanye West, respectively.

With the monthly Teen Nights proving so successful, Mrs Clark revealed it’s now hoped to run them more frequently.

“This was our fourth event and we have held them approximately once a month,” she said.

“But because they are proving so popular, we hope to do it more often in the future.

“However, none of it would be possible without the support of our sponsors who include Digicel and the Graceway IGA and Gourmet Supermarkets.

“Also a big thanks to my co-organiser Gillian Vernice, volunteers CJ Edross, Katie Watson and Sarah Diepenveen, and to Alan Larkin from the Provo Hockey League for donating pairs of skates for the youngsters to use on the night.”

Details of the next Teen Night will be advertised across the island and there is a Facebook page at Providenciales TeenNight.

The cost per teenager is $12 and there is security on duty throughout. The nights generally run from 7pm to 10pm with parents and volunteers welcome.
